After the great fun I had meeting old friends last Thursday/Friday, including having a taste of their (Jaryl and Dawson) cooking, there's this inspiration to do some cooking. As in, beyond eggs, omelettes and sausages.
Bought a small bundle of ingredients on Sunday, and tonight I just felt the possibility of low cost home-cooked food.
For starters, I had pancakes for lunch today. Pre-mixed flour and I added milk and eggs, making several pancakes. My frying pan skills leave something to be desired, given the odd shapes of the pancakes :) . Served with honey.

In the evening I was making some mashed potatoes and mushroom soup, after observing what they had cooked just a few days ago. A little lack of seasoning and too much water may have diluted the mushroom soup, but it still has the blended mushroom texture that some canned/packed soups don't have. Good enough for a first attempt I'd say. The mashed potatoes turned out alright (with a compliment from mum!) and I poured some beef gravy which came from a packet.

That's a lot of carbohydrate-rich food today (inclusive instant noodles for breakfast) - next round would be meat and vegetables! :)
